The Production Of Milk And Dairy Products Increases In Camagüey

le

Camagüey - The remarkable increase of the delivery of milk by local stockbreeders in recent months to Camagüey Dairy Product Company allows for the production of some 8,400 tons of different items above planned.

The eleven plants located in this Cuban province work on storing, processing and distributing fluid milk, but also on the making of different varieties of cheese, butter, soy and cow's milk yogourt, ice cream and other dairy products, as well as the delivery of some 2 600,000 liters of this fresh liquid to Holguin province.

More than 8 000,000 liters were received this year, figure greater than the amount produced in the same period of the previous year. This made it also possible to sell over 340 tons of curdled milk as a raw material in the manufacture of cheese to Pinar del Rio, Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Holguin.

Approximately 9,000 milk producers have delivered fresh milk and cheese to Camagüey Dairy Product Company until the current month. Ninety per cent of these are farmers, who have made contributions estimated above the 330,000 liters par day this month. (Raysa Mestril Gutiérrez/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
