Smith Dairy Now Offering Choice Of rBST-Free Milk
"The use of rBST on dairy cows is an emotional issue for some consumers," said Penny Baker, Director of Marketing at Smith Dairy. "We're listening to them and, hopefully addressing their concerns."
To increase milk production in herds, some dairy farms use the artificial growth hormone recombinant bovine somatotropin (rBST). Although the Food and Drug Administration says there is no difference between milk from treated and untreated cows, Smith Dairy is providing a choice.
"Consumers who object to the use of artificial growth hormones now have an option," Baker said. "Like our Yellow Super Jug, which protects milk from vitamin loss and flavor changes, SMITH'S rBST-free milk is another part of our continuing commitment to provide the best quality and selection to our consumers and customers."
