Sizing Powders In Battery Manufacturing
A large, international manufacturer of dry cell batteries approached Quadro to help them improve the manufacturing of their battery products. The battery employed several powder mixtures of Teflon, Carbon black powder and Graphite. To size the powders to the correct mesh size, the manufacturer's original set-up included a Comil and a hammermill. However, heat generation in the hammer mill caused blinding of the screen which slowed down production of the batteries.
To solve this problem, a Comil was used in place of the hammermill. By a using a 2 step process of various screen an impeller combination, the results required by the customer were met. Good flow to and from the Comil was noted with no build up on the Comil components and no screen blinding.
To meet the needs of customers worldwide, ten (10) fully scalable Comil® models are available for a variety of applications, depending on the products capacities can range up to 54,500 kg/hr (120,000 lb/hr). Meets all international safety standards including OSHA, CE, and ATEX.
