Marcam Expands Food Processing Customer Base

Marcam Solutions Inc. (Newton, MA) has announced that LE Pritchitt & Company, a supplier of dairy food products based in Ireland, and A. Zerega's Sons, a pasta manufacturer in New Jersey, have selected its Protean ERP solution.

Built with object-oriented technology, Protean is Marcam's open client/server solution for process companies. Its robust architecture enables customers to change or customize their applications, according to their evolving requirements, without rewriting software code. It is architected to work with leading platforms and operating systems, including HP-9000, RS/6000, DEC Alpha and Windows NT.

In addition, Marcam announced that Kraft Foods, Inc. has implemented its PRISM software at 22 plants in the past year, bringing the total number of Kraft sites using Marcam's process ERP software to over 60 worldwide. Kraft intends to continue its US rollout of PRISM over the next 12 months.

PRISM, which consists of 35 integrated applications, is an application suite for process manufacturing companies using the IBM AS/400.

Kraft plants are utilizing PRISM's Inventory, Production Control, Planning, Procurement and Activity Based Costing modules to streamline manufacturing processes. Several plants are also using Marcam's Enterprise Manager application to integrate information across the entire supply chain.
