Loading And Unloading Tablets From A Drum Coater

A common application for the Quadro Vac® System is the loading and unloading of uncoated/coated tablet cores into and back out of a drum coater. Such an operation is typical in the Pharmaceutical Industry, where a coating is required on a compressed tablet as part of the release mechanism for the drug. More often than not, the loading and subsequent unloading processes are carried out manually, with an operator having to bend to scoop tablets out of a supply container to load the drum, and then reach into the drum at the end of the operation, to scoop them back out again.

As with most applications, this operation can be handled with ease by the Quadro Vac® System. Numerous Quadro Vac® Systems have proven successful even with particularly fragile tablet shapes (such as caplets with a breakline), and on easily chipped coatings (such as sugar). Throughputs well in excess of 1.5 tonnes per hour are achievable, meaning that a 200 kg batch can be loaded or unloaded in 8 to 10 minutes.
