Lifeway Foods Launches ProBugs, No-Spill Organic Whole Milk Kefir Product For Kids
Morton Grove, IL - Lifeway Foods, known for its great tasting healthy natural and organic dairy products such as kefir, has launched ProBugs, made with organic whole milk kefir for growing kids age 2-9. ProBugs contain 10 live and active kefir cultures (most yogurts have two or three types) that give a healthy boost to the digestive and immune system. "ProBugs" is a reference to "probiotics" and "friendly" bugs found in kefir. Probiotics help inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria in your child's digestive system. "Friendly" bugs are the good bacteria found in the stomach that boost the immune system. ProBugs are rich in "friendly bugs" and "probiotics" that help increases the level of good bacteria in children's digestive systems and promotes overall healthy digestion. ProBugs are packaged in a patented no-spill spout pouch, the first dairy product using this technology in the US.
ProBugs comes in two flavors, "Sublime Slime Lime" and "Orange Creamy Crawler". Both are certified organic, are high in protein, calcium and have added inulin for calcium absorption and offer 1.5 grams of fiber. ProBugs come in packs of four 5 ounce servings. ProBugs fun packaging, cartoon bug characters Peter and Polly ProBug and flavors appeal to even the pickiest eaters.
"ProBugs pouches have a patented no-spill spout, making it easy for kids to consume, while eliminating messes. The pouch is also designed in such a way that little hands can hold easily. Mom and Dad can feel comfortable offering ProBugs(TM) as a snack in the car or at home and know that what's inside the package goes from the package directly to their child's mouth with no spills or clean up," explains Julie Smolyansky, President and CEO of Lifeway Foods.
Flexible packaging is an environmentally friendly alternative to rigid forms of packaging such as glass, PET, or aluminum cans. Flexible packaging requires 75% less energy to produce and occupies 96% less space than traditional packaging reducing materials that need to be recycled, land filled or incinerated. And, one truckload of one liter sized flexible packaging is equivalent to approximately 25 truckloads of rigid packaging.
ProBugs were sampled last weekend at Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim with Polly ProBugs in costume helping pass out samples. The response from retailers was overwhelmingly positive with comments like, "this is the coolest product here ... sublime slime lime and orange creamy crawler how neat! ... this packaging is so cool, no mess." ProBugs will be shipped nationwide in June.
