Lancaster County's Kreider Farms Gives A New Look To Batch-Churned Ice Cream

Locally made and additive-free – the perfect treat for hot summer days

MANHEIM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Local ice cream enthusiasts seeking their favorite flavor are finding the family-owned Kreider Farms product line delivered in new, vibrant packaging. A cheery cow illustrated on the packaging’s front speaks to Kreider’s 1,400 cows that produce more than 12,000 gallons of milk on the Farm each day. The eco-friendly farm’s premium ice cream is made from rBST hormone free milk and cream and without high fructose additives. Furthermore, the ice cream is batch-churned and hand-filled at Kreider Farms, ensuring high-quality and exceptional richness.

“By producing in small batches that are hand-processed, we are able to create an ultra-creamy, thicker ice cream,” said Ron Kreider, president and CEO, and third-generation family leader of Kreider Farms. “Our ice cream preserves that old-fashioned, homemade taste and we invite people to taste the difference.”

Kreider Farms’ ice cream comes in 22 flavors and seven seasonal flavors, as well as several low-fat yogurt, no sugar added and sherbet varieties. In addition to the classic flavors, there are unique varieties such as Butter Brickle, Caramel Chocolate Truffle, and Cow Palace, vanilla ice cream with swirls of fudge and mini peanut butter cups. Kreider Farms’ ice cream is available at specialty stores and farmers markets in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland, including the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia and a number of Amish Farmers Markets.

Kreider Farms’ ice cream operation is a success story for sustainable farming. The Farm grows its own feed, produces processes and bottles all of its own milk and ice cream within a one-mile radius, saving vast quantities of diesel fuel. Kreider’s cows are not given rBST hormone supplement injections and are milked using a high-tech “milking merry-go-round” system that saves substantial amounts of labor. The milk is quick chilled to 33 degrees Fahrenheit in just eight minutes, locking in quality and freshness.

Founded in 1935, Kreider Farms is one of Pennsylvania’s largest dairy farms, supplying fresh, high-quality eggs, milk, drinks and premium batch-churned ice cream. The Farms’ mission is to achieve excellence in delivering low-cost, high-quality products; to be good neighbors and stewards of the land; and to operate clean, efficient and state-of-the-art facilities.
