Kreider Farms’ ice cream operation is a success story for sustainable farming. The Farm grows its own feed, produces processes and bottles all of its own milk and ice cream within a one-mile radius, saving vast quantities of diesel fuel. Kreider’s cows are not given rBST hormone supplement injections and are milked using a high-tech “milking merry-go-round” system that saves substantial amounts of labor. The milk is quick chilled to 33 degrees Fahrenheit in just eight minutes, locking in quality and freshness.
