GalaGen Appoints Austen Cargill to Board of Directors

GalaGen Inc. (Arden Hills, MN) has appointed Austen Cargill II, Ph.D. to its board of directors. Dr. Cargill currently serves on the board and as corporate VP and director of R&D Worldwide for Cargill Inc. He replaces David Spreng.

Dr. Cargill recently helped to establish and supervise Cargill's Nutraceuticals product line. As Cargill's corporate director of food safety, he established and implemented food safety policies and systems throughout all of Cargill's product lines worldwide. In addition, Dr. Cargill serves on the board for Renessen, a joint venture of Cargill and Monsanto, and the Boyce Thompson Plant Research Institute at Cornell University.

"Dr. Cargill is an extremely valuable addition to GalaGen's Board of Directors. He brings tremendous experience from the food production industry. His role in establishing Cargill's worldwide Nutraceuticals Product Line has positioned Cargill to participate in the emerging functional food and nutraceutical markets.
