Dairyworld Foods to Acquire McCain Refrigerated Foods

Dairyworld Foods has reached an agreement to acquire McCain Refrigerated Foods Inc., a subsidiary of McCain Foods Limited.

The acquisition will unite Dairyworld Foods' cheese products business unit with McCain Refrigerated Foods, which produces an extensive portfolio of cheese products at its processing plants in Oakville, Harrowsmith, and Tavistock, Ontario.

"This is a truly exciting acquisition that will immediately create one of the leading cheese companies in the country," explained David Coe, president and CEO of Burnaby, B.C.-based Dairyworld Foods.

The agreement is still subject to approval by the Competition Bureau.

Dairyworld Foods is western Canada's largest food company and leading dairy supplier. It markets an extensive lineup of dairy and related food products under such well-known brand names as Dairyland, Armstrong, Yoplait, and Orchard Hill.
