Best Manufacturing Opens R&D Facility
Glove manufacturer Best Manufacturing recently broke ground for its future 15,625-sqft Tillotson-Looper Technical Center. Located near the company's headquarters in Menlo, GA, the center will be the new home for the research and development laboratories, physical testing labs, analytical services and the engineering department.
The center's facilities will include a pilot assembly line that can replicate the exact manufacturing process of each Best plant. The pilot line is so accurate that Best can adjust temperature, humidity and a host of environmental and manufacturing variables to effectively duplicate its automated processes.
In addition to providing new space and equipment, the facility will house all of Best's technical teams under one roof.
"It's critical that all of our different teams interface together," explained John Varos, director of research and development, Best Manufacturing. "Having a facility large enough to house the various disciplines and labs will improve our work and ultimately our products."
Best Manufacturing is a maker of hand protection for industrial and medical markets. The company manufactures from its plant facilities in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Guatemala and now Tennessee. Industry end users include aviation, chemical processing, food processing, high-technology/clean room, metal fabrication, hospitals and emergency medical services.
