These direct contact steam injection heaters are specially designed for sanitary applications, meeting all 3A specifications for use in food, dairy, beverage and other applications where cleanliness is critical. Based on the company's Hydroheater design, these heaters are said to provide smooth, stable operation through high velocity mixing and modulation of steam. Typical applications include cooking starch, heating liquid slurries with a high percentage of solids, heating jacketed vessels and reactors, water heating, wash down and CIP applications.
The heaters provide temperature control to ± 1/2°F (1/4°C) with a maximum temperature rise up to 250°F. They offer quick heating with no warm-up time needed and 100% thermal efficiency because both latent and sensible heat of the steam is used. Four different sizes (for ½-, 1-, 1 ½- and 2 ½-in. connections) can accommodate flow rates up to 180 gal/min, steam supply pressure up to 150 psig, and steam flow rates up to 13,000 lbs/h with a maximum temperature rise to 250°F.
