Charm Sciences has an international reputation as the most innovative developer of rapid and accurate tests for residues in food. Food safety issues were paramount to the founding of the company by Dr. Stanley E. Charm in 1978.
The Charm I test, the first test manufactured by Charm Sciences, was an antibiotic test for milk. For the first time it was possible to test milk before commingling. This was a major departure and made possible the control of drugs in milk.
Further developments included broadening the matrices from milk to other foods, including animal and fish tissues, serum, urine, honey, eggs, water, feed, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and grains.
Charm users can perform many different tests using the same laboratory or hand held portable system. Charm continues to advance the science of food safety with many newer more rapid tests and even single service packages which greatly simplify procedures. All equipment and reagents are manufactured by Charm Sciences and all are subjected to strict internal quality control. Charm Sciences has the highest concentration of research and development personnel in the industry developing tests and manufacturing reagents in their plants in Malden and Andover, Massachusetts.
The Charm II Test is the standard used by industry and regulatory agencies for international trade. All tests can be easily set to meet varying regulations, for example U.S., EU, Pacific Region, Australia, or New Zealand. Charm antibiotic test are the standard for 6 U.S. Food and Drug Administration laboratories, 55 U.S. state laboratories, and 7 Army facilities.
Charm products are sold worldwide by Charm representatives and distributors.
